This country music singer songwriter, Mark Wills, just so happened to also be performing at the Grand Ole Opry the same night as the Midnight Jamboree would be happening in Nashville, so he came on over to perform after his segment on the Grand Ole Opry. Continue reading
As the holiday season is quickly approaching, this is one of the important times of the year, where folks like to help out and support some of their favorite charities. One of the popular causes that is supported locally here in Nashville, is the non-profit organization, Christmas 4 Kids.
The charity which was created in 1982, Christmas Caravan, before changing its name a few years later in 1992, has been established for more than 36 years, helping to raise money for children around the middle Tennessee area, to help give toys to those who may be less fortunate and provide a little more joy for the kids every Christmas. If you’re a fan of the CMT television show Nashville (aka: a “Nashie”), then you might have heard that some of the cast members also pursue careers as musicians when not working on the show. Sam Palladio, the actor who plays the role of Gunnar Scott, is one such cast member who has enjoyed success as a songwriter and singer in addition to the notoriety he has received as a result of the series, which is now in its 5th season.
About two years ago, I stumbled across a video on YouTube in which Palladio was performing and singing a song he wrote based on a story his grandfather told him. When his grandfather was a young man, he fell in love with a girl who lived in Nashville. But after he went off to war, he was unable to get back to the city and never saw her again. Wake Me Up In Nashville is a beautiful, tender love song, full of longing and cherished memories, and I immediately fell in love with it. Continue reading

Last month, on December 4th, Pitney joined his friend and frequent writing partner, Bobby Tomberlin, for a performance at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop on Broadway in Downtown Nashville for the release of Tomberlin’s new album, Out of Road.
While attending the release party, I got to chat with Pitney about his inaugural CD. “Well, it’s been amazing to finally get it out,” Pitney explains, “we had been working on it for about three years.” The 23 year old singer/songwriter admitted that he felt the music was getting old since the project was taking so long. However, the immediate success of the album proved that it was well worth the time and effort. Continue reading
