Exile Comes To Arkansas

One of the best bands in country music, Exile recently visited Forrest City, Arkansas on January 18th to perform a great show at East Arkansas Community College.

This year the band embarks on their 57th Anniversary of being in the music industry. In fact, the guys have no plans of slowing down anytime soon, “We are going for 60!” as Sonny LeMaire said during the show.

The show was exciting all the way through as Exile entertained the crowd with multiple incredible songs of theirs such as Take Me To The River, I Can’t Get Close Enough, Woke Up In Love, Hang Onto Your Heart, Keep It In The Middle Of The Road, Super Love, It’ll Be Me, their big hit, Kiss You All Over and many more!

Along with those tunes, Exile had some other songs up their sleeves as a surprise! They did three different medleys, one being a collection of some songs that members of the band have written for other country music artists. Those included When She Cries At Night by Restless Heart, What A Beautiful Mess by Diamond Rio, It Ain’t Easy Being Easy by Janie Fricke, along with Take Me Down and The Closer You Get, both recorded by Alabama.

In between the medleys, the band performed a cool cover of Tennessee Ernie Ford’s hit song, Sixteen Tons. They rehearsed it when they were first starting out and recorded it on a boom box, so they brilliantly included their cover just like they rehearsed it on their latest double-album CD set, The Garage Tapes which was released in August of last year! “We think it’s really cool that way!” said LeMaire.

The second medley was filled with songs from artists that they have worked with in their career. There was seven songs in this awesome medley starting with Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison, Don’t Stop by Fleetwood Mac, Walk This Way by Aerosmith, He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones, Okie From Muskogee by Merle Haggard, Listen To The Music by The Doobie Brothers, and Good Lovin’ by The Rascals.

As a surprise performance, Exile came back out to perform one more wonderful medley which included the songs, I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) by The Four Tops, Ain’t Too Proud To Beg by The Temptations, and Signed Sealed Delivered by Stevie Wonder. The band closed the show by saying “Thank you for coming to see Exile tonight!”

There’s no question this concert from Exile was amazing! The show was full of surprises and it will leave you wanting more! It is definitely a concert you won’t forget! If you haven’t seen Exile in concert before, it is positively a show you don’t want to miss! Thank you to Exile for an awesome show!

Great article , thank you . I have been following them for years . The neat thing about them is they play all their music that is on the albums . No studio musicians ! The best part are the vocals and harmonies as they did all their own singing ! No studio vocalists either ! Hope everyone gets to hear them . Plus they hang around after every show for pics and autographs. I always say the only thing better than the last time I saw them will be the next time I see them . Thank you again !
