A lot of country music fans gathered around at the Texas Troubadour Theater in Nashville, Tennessee on August 24th, to see a beloved artist in country music and Grand Ole Opry member, the lovely, Crystal Gayle.
For those who don’t know, Gayle is the sister of the very well known country singer, Loretta Lynn. Surprisingly, this was Gayle’s very first time to host the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree.
Crystal Gayle was glad to be there at the show and to sing a few tunes off of her new upcoming album, You Don’t Know Me, that was actually produced by her son, Chris, and will be available on September 6th.
This new project will be the first album the singer has released in sixteen years. The artist sang several songs from the upcoming new record at the show such as the title track, You Don’t Know Me, along with Walkin’ After Midnight and That’s The Way Love Goes.
Along with performing those songs, Gayle also shared the stage and sang a few tunes with her sister that was there singing, Peggy Sue. They performed a few songs together, one of them being Blue Moon Of Kentucky, and a string of Buck Owens songs such as Together Again, I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail, Cryin’ Time and Act Naturally.
The sisters also sang a song that they both recorded along with their other sister, Loretta Lynn for Gayle’s new album coming soon that is entitled, Put It Off Until Tomorrow. When Gayle was talking about recording this song with her sisters, she said that her sibling, Loretta Lynn really enjoyed singing on the tune and would have recorded a whole album if they had one ready to make!
During the show, Gayle let her sister, Peggy Sue perform a song solo that many country music fans know and she just so happens to have wrote the tune as well. She performed the popular song from Loretta Lynn, Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind). Along with that, Peggy Sue’s husband of forty-nine years, Sonny Wright came on stage to perform a couple tunes and said quote, “What a pleasure it is for me to be here tonight.” Wright performed two classic country songs, He Stopped Loving Her Today and I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair, both originally by the legendary, George Jones.
Crystal Gayle ended the show by singing a wonderful cover of Rocky Top and her beautiful hit song, Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, followed by a surprise encore performance of a song that will be on her new album, Ribbon Of Darkness.
