20 Country Music Artists Who Are From Arkansas

There’s a lot of great country music artists who are from Arkansas! Some you may know are from the natural state and there’s some you might not know were from Razorback central. 

This is why The CMBeat has created a list of twenty country music artists who are from Arkansas and the list features all types of artists from beloved ones to upcoming artists. 

The list will include the artist and which town they are from, along with some facts about them! This list is in no particular order. Check out the list here!

1. Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash is from Dyess, Arkansas. The singer songwriter is known as one of the biggest artists in country music to this day with hits such as I Walk The Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Jackson and many more. 

2. Glen Campbell
Glen Campbell is from Delight, Arkansas. The artist had multiple hit songs including Wichita Lineman, Rhinestone Cowboy, Southern Nights, Galveston and Gentle On My Mind. He also collaborated with Bobbie Gentry for an album and he hosted his own show, The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS from 1969 to 1972. 

3. Charlie Rich
Charlie Rich is from Colt, Arkansas. The artist is most known for three songs he released including Behind Closed Doors, The Most Beautiful Girl (In The World) and Rollin’ With The Flow

4. Conway Twitty
Conway Twitty is from Helena, Arkansas. The artist is known for his hit song, Hello Darlin’ along with many more including Linda On My Mind, I’d Just Love To Lay You Down, It’s Only Make Believe, Tight Fittin’ Jeans and Slow Hand to name a few. He’s also known for his duets with Loretta Lynn.

5. The Browns
The Browns are from Sparkman, Arkansas. The trio of siblings was most known for their music in the 1950’s and their big song, Three Bells. Jim Ed Brown from the group later went on to have a solo career along with having multiple hits with Helen Cornelius. 

6. Ed Bruce
Ed Bruce is from Keiser, Arkansas. The singer songwriter released some music of his own such as the song, You’re The Best Break This Old Heart Ever Had. He was best known for writing the big hit song in 1975 for Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson entitled, Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys

7. Tracy Lawrence
Tracy Lawrence is from Foreman, Arkansas. He was originally born in Texas but was raised in Arkansas. The singer songwriter is a big staple when it comes to country music having multiple great hits including Time Marches On, Paint Me A Birmingham, Alibis, Texas Tornado, Better Man, Better Off and Find Out Who Your Friends Are

8. Joe Nichols
Joe Nichols is from Rogers, Arkansas. The artist has released a lot of country music including songs such as Brokenheartsville, Gimmie That Girl, Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off, She Only Smokes When She Drinks, What’s A Guy Gotta Do and Sunny and 75

9. Justin Moore
Justin Moore is from Poyen, Arkansas. The singer songwriter has been a great addition to country music with his songs including Til My Last Day, Small Town USA, Backwoods, If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away, Bait A Hook, The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home and more. He recently has joined the morning sports radio show in Little Rock on 103.7 The Buzz. 

10. Ashley McBryde
Ashley McBryde is from Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. The singer songwriter has had amazing success in country music! She’s been touring and releasing fantastic songs like her first number one hit, Girl Goin’ Nowhere. Some other notable songs as well include A Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega, Martha Divine and One Night Standards

11. Buddy Jewell
Buddy Jewell is from Osceola, Arkansas. The singer songwriter quickly gained stardom after winning the first season of USA Network’s competition show, Nashville Star in 2003. He released hits such as Sweet Southern Comfort, Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey’s Song) and more. 

12. Collin Raye
Collin Raye is from De Queen, Arkansas. The singer songwriter has released some great country songs including That’s My Story, Little Rock, Love, Me, One Boy, One Girl, In This Life, Little Red Rodeo and more! 

13. Phillip Sweet
Phillip Sweet is from Cherokee Village, Arkansas. The musician is one fourth of the country music group, Little Big Town, which has released many hits including Boondocks, Little White Church, Tornado, Pontoon, Girl Crush, Better Man and more.

14. Ronnie Dunn
Ronnie Dunn lived in El Dorado, Arkansas for a short period of time during his childhood. He’s known for being one half of the legendary country music duo, Brooks & Dunn, along with his solo music career. The artist was inducted into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall Of Fame in the early 2000’s. 

15. Shay Mooney
Shay Mooney is from Natural Dam, Arkansas, which is near the Arkansas/Oklahoma border. The artist is most known for being apart of the country music duo, Dan + Shay and for having big hits such as Speechless, All To Myself, Tequila, and more.

16. Trent Tomlinson
Trent Tomlinson was born in Blytheville, Arkansas. The artist has released music of his own and has written songs for other country artists such as George Strait, Sara Evans, Emerson Drive, Blue County, and most recently Parmalee’s hit song, Close Your Eyes

17. The Wilburn Brothers
The Wilburn Brothers is from Hardy, Arkansas. The duo left a big mark in country music history within their own music career and helping launch the careers of artists such as Loretta Lynn. 

18. Floyd Cramer
Floyd Cramer is from Huttig, Arkansas. He was well known as a pianist and studio musician in Nashville. Cramer was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He will be honored this year with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming Arkansas Country Music Awards. 

19. Lefty Frizzell
Lefty Frizzell is from El Dorado, Arkansas. The artist was known for his music career and his biggest hit song, If You’ve Got The Money, I’ve Got The Time. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame and will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award as well at this year’s Arkansas Country Music Awards. 

20. Barbara Fairchild
Barbara Fairchild is from Knobel, Arkansas. The singer songwriter is most known for her biggest hit, Teddy Bear Song. In recent years, she has recorded more gospel music as well. 

There’s some other notable country artists from Arkansas as well including Jessica Andrews, K.T. Oslin, Patsy Montana, Jimmy Driftwood, Sonny Burgess, Levon Helm, Wayne Raney and Iris Dement
