It was a great night for live music as the country music band, Little Texas came to perform a show in Forrest City, Arkansas at the Eastern Arkansas Community College Fine Arts Center on January 22nd!
“Welcome to our first show of 2022!” said lead singer, Porter Howell for the band as they were welcomed on stage! For the first song of the show, they performed one of their very first songs entitled, Some Guys Have All The Love.
Little Texas had great success in the 1990’s, which is a very special decade of music for the country genre and the group talked about those days during the show. “What a magical time and we are so proud to have been right in the middle of it. Had a bunch of top 10 songs and a few #1’s.” said Howell.
The band performed a few of their songs including Amy’s Back In Austin, Life Goes On, My Love, First Time For Everything, Kick A Little, What Might Have Been and their biggest hit, God Bless Texas.
Along with that, they performed quite a few covers of some rock songs including We’re An American Band by Grand Funk Railroad, Rock’n Me by Steve Miller Band, Bullet From A Gun by Andy Ross and Stay by Jackson Browne.
There’s one song the band member, Dwayne O’Brien did an amazing performance of as well entitled, Peaceful Easy Feeling by The Eagles. This song is featured on the album, Common Thread: Songs Of The Eagles which was released in 1993 and the band was asked to be apart of that project. They were one of the newest artists on the record at the time alongside Clint Black, Travis Tritt, Trisha Yearwood and more. “It was all of our peers,” said Howell, “It was quite an honor.”
The band, Little Texas has four original members which has been in the group since it was created in 1988 which includes lead singer/guitar, Porter Howell, bass player, Duane Propes, guitar player, Dwayne O’Brien and drummer, Del Gray.
Although one of the members of the band, Del Gray is not able to tour with the group right now due to medical issues, they’ve graciously asked the drummer from Hank Williams Jr.’s band, Lee Kelley to come fill the band member’s spot temporarily. “This guy has made the show go on and we really appreciate it.” said Howell.
The band, Little Texas said during the show they do tour regularly and perform several dates every year. Along with that, they have recorded new music and are in the process of recording a new album as well!
Little Texas ended the show with a round of applause and thanking the audience for coming! “What a great way to start the year y’all!” said Howell, “You guys have been awesome! Thanks for spending your evening with us!” The band performed a great show!
