A upcoming country music artist, Tiffany Woys, who is originally born and raised in Sacramento, California, is starting to make her way in the country music scene in Nashville, as she just released her first single as well as her self titled debut EP.
The singer recently got to chat with me about several things including how she realized she became interested in music as a career and a few of her main musical influences. Woys also mentions what it was like releasing her debut single and EP, how its been to work with Radio Disney Country, and how she wants to remain truly honest with her fans in her journey.
Emily Ann Wells: What got you interested in making music?
Tiffany Woys: Music has been the largest part of my life since as far back as I can really remember. My mom ALWAYS had Celine Dion playing in her car, and I remember finally being able to see her live for the first time at the age of 6. Right then and there, something in me just sparked. It went from just loving to listen to music to actually being able to see it as something people do. I fantasized about being on a stage with a microphone and having people stop and listen to me. The older I have become, the more I have been able to see what music does for people and how it brings people from all backgrounds together. That’s magic. I want to create magic.
EAW: Who are some of your musical influences?
TW: Number one is Celine Dion, because she is the reason I do this. I credit LeAnn Rimes for my passion for country music and why I ultimately chose this genre as my home. I have always admired Michael Jackson for how hard he worked and how he never missed a detail in his craft. That’s admirable. Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts influence my current style. Their vocal abilities are so incredible – not just for the country genre, but music in general.
EAW: You just released your self-titled debut EP! What was it like releasing it?
TW: It has been a dream come true. It’s been something I have dreamt about for a very long time, and it was years of hard work in the making – five, almost six, to be exact. At times, it felt like the day might never come, but I have learned through this journey that the best things come with patience. I’m not sure there is ever a perfect time, but this just felt right. It’s been incredible to see the response to putting my heart put out there for everyone to hear. It’s so rewarding and helpful to know what people are loving and also where I can improve! I know my music won’t be able to please everyone, but my job is to hopefully inspire and make listeners feel something. I take that seriously.
EAW: What is your favorite song off of your new EP? Why?
TW: You know, I don’t think I have a favorite, because each one says something so huge about me and my journey to where I am right now. Each song is SO special to me for different reasons. However, “Love Has No Heart” has a huge piece of my heart for many reasons. It represents something so much larger and therapeutically pushed me through a really hard time in my life. Now, through experiencing and recording it, I am now the happiest I have ever been in my life. It’s amazing what music can do. Everything in life has a purpose, and there is always a greater plan for you that you may not see. That song put me on my greater path.
EAW: Your latest single, Priceless has been doing great on the charts. What made you choose to record this song and put it out as a single?
TW: “Priceless” was the last song I decided to add to the EP, and ironically, it became my first single. I wasn’t necessarily expecting it to be my first single, but I am so grateful it was. It has opened some incredible doors for me and allowed me to be introduced to the Radio Disney Country family. That is a HUGE dream and accomplishment for me. I chose to record this song because I think it’s a message people need to hear right now – especially younger generations. It’s easy to lose yourself and not see your worth, especially with social media. Relationships become less valuable now, and I want every girl, boy, woman and man to feel confident and priceless. Never settle in any relationship. Your worth is gold, and you are in control of that. No one else gets to determine your worth, so only allow those into your life who can see how special you are.
EAW: If you could do a duet/collaboration with any artist, who would it be and why?
TW: I have a couple! I would LOVE to collaborate with Keith Urban or Rascal Flatts. I would love just to be on a stage with Celine Dion, simply because it would be an honor to stand next to her. I would also love to do a duet with Brett Young. Since he’s also from California, it would be really awesome! His voice is so raw and special, and I would love to sing with him.
EAW: What is something your fans would be surprised to know about you?
TW: I am just as insecure as every other girl. Haha. I think we all know we put our best selves out on socials, because that’s what it feels like we are trained to. It’s scary to be that real and honest. There are days I wake up hating everything about myself, but it makes me take a step back and remind myself that God made us exactly the way we are supposed to be, and we are all beautiful. I try to never appear insecure because I want to be a place of motivation and encouragement. However, I am learning that we can help the most by showing our flaws and more of our reality.
EAW: Do you have any goals you want to accomplish in 2019?
TW: Yes, yes, yes! So many! First, I want to start performing more. I miss the stage and just entertaining. It’s my second home. I also plan on getting back into the studio and making more music. Even though I just released my EP, I’m ready to figure out what’s next for new music.
This upcoming artist, Tiffany Woys, is unquestionably putting in the hard work and effort that is required for a great career in the music industry.
