Crystal Gayle Comes To Arkansas

It was a great night for country music as country music artist, Crystal Gayle came to perform a show in October in Forrest City, Arkansas at the Eastern Arkansas Community College Performing Arts Center.

The concert started with Crystal Gayle’s band opening the show with a beautiful instrumental version of one of Elvis Presley’s biggest hits, Can’t Help Falling In Love.

“We love Arkansas,” said Gayle as she was welcomed onto the stage. “What a wonderful place to come and enjoy music.” The country singer performed some of her songs which started her career including Everybody’s Reaching Out For Someone, Wrong Road Again and Somebody Loves You

C4434612-B4F5-40E9-9515-AAE93616789BAlong with those, she performed a song of hers, I’ll Get Over You, which was released on her debut album, Somebody Loves You in 1975 and was her very first number one song of her career. 

In 2019, Crystal Gayle released a brand new album entitled, You Don’t Know Me which features a variety of classic country songs that Gayle grew up loving and singing. The album was co-produced by Crystal Gayle’s son, Chris Gayle and the artist said they had a great time making the record together!

She performed some of her versions from the album, You Don’t Know Me including Hank Locklin’s tune, Please Help Me, I’m Falling, the title track which has been recorded by several artists but was a number one for Mickey Gilley and one of Patsy Cline’s biggest hits, Walkin’ After Midnight

Crystal and their other sister, Peggy Sue which tours with Crystal performed a couple songs of Loretta’s including Coal Miner’s Daughter and the song that Peggy Sue wrote herself entitled, Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)

Along with that, Crystal and Peggy Sue performed a medley of several hit songs from country star, Buck Owens including Together Again, I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail, Crying Time and Act Naturally

Crystal Gayle talked about her career recognizing how much music and songwriting has changed over the years by saying, “they don’t write them like they used to.” 

The artist performed a few more songs before closing the show including Why Have You Left The One You Left Me For, her biggest number one hit, Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, a phenomenal cover of Rocky Top and her song, When I Dream

“Thank you, you’ve been a wonderful crowd!” said Gayle as she left the stage with a standing ovation. This show by Crystal Gayle was great! It was interesting to hear the stories from her career and learn about her sister, Peggy Sue. Along with that, it was wonderful to see her band have such a spotlight throughout the show. If you haven’t seen Crystal Gayle in concert, it’s definitely a show you will want to see!
