Exclusive Interview with Walker Montgomery

A upcoming country music artist who has country music running through his veins, Walker Montgomery is starting to make his mark in Music City.

The singer recently got to chat with me about a few things including what it’s like coming from a musical family and a dream collaboration he would like to do. Montgomery also talked about his latest single, something that people would be surprised to know about him and what’s in store for him next!

Emily Ann Wells: Who are some of your musical influences?
Walker Montgomery: Many people from many Genres. All the way from Glenn Miller to Luke Bryan.

EAW: You come from a musical family as your dad is 90’s country music icon, John Michael Montgomery and your uncle is Eddie Montgomery from the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry. What made you decide you wanted to pursue a music career as well?
WM: The first time I performed on stage when I was a sophomore in high school in Lexington, KY was when I knew this is what I wanted to do.

EAW: You recently released your latest single, Saving For A Rainy Night. What was it like releasing that song?
WM: “Saving For A Rainy Night” is a beautifully written song, and I’m so blessed to be able to cut it. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m very grateful for that.

EAW: If you could do a collaboration with anyone, who would it be and why?
WM: If I could collaborate with anyone, it would probably have to be Tracy Lawrence. I grew up on his lyrics and melodies, and I think that would be really special.

EAW: What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
WM: My love for 1930’s Big Band is always a surprise to people. Glenn Miller Band, Benny Goodman and Helen Forrest are some of my favorites, to name a few!

EAW: What can fans look forward to from you next?
WM: I’m excited to release more singles and hopefully get back on the road full time soon! I’m missing it!

There’s no question, Walker Montgomery is a wonderful country artist! The singer by growing up around country music royalty, he has a great sense of modern country music and it shows in his style along with his music.
