A rising country music duo, The Shires originally from the United Kingdom, has just released their fourth brand new album entitled, Good Years.

The members of the duo, Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes recently had time to chat with me about a few things including about the process of making their new album! Along with that, they talked about what they were looking forward to the most about releasing the new record and talked about what they hope to see this new album accomplish.

Emily Ann Wells: Did you know what kind of album you wanted to make when starting to create this one?
The Shires: There’s a very reflective feel to the album. We didn’t really set out to do that intentionally, but through the writing process it just happened. There’s big songs which will be great fun for our live show, but there’s also some really intimate moments too.

EAW: Which one of your new songs is extra special to you on the album?
TS: Crazy Days is a very personal song. It could almost be conversation. We spend so much time on the road away from the people we love and this song really sums that all up. We both relate to it deeply, and think a lot of people that hear it will too.

EAW: What do you want fans to know when listening to the new album?
TS: We had fifty or sixty songs to choose from for Good Years, and spent 18 months writing for it. We feel that as an album, it really represents who we are, and where we are in our lives right now.

EAW: Is there anything in particular you would like to see this album accomplish?
TS: Breaking into the US has always been a huge goal for us. We’d love it if this was the album that did that for us, as we’re so proud of it.

EAW: What are you looking forward to the most about releasing this album?
TS: Getting to add these songs to our live set, and hearing the stories from our fans about how much the songs mean to them. It’s funny because we know what they mean to us, but it’s amazing how people relate to each song in so many different ways.
