ABC’s Nashville is Cancelled

If you’ve been a loyal watcher of the television show, Nashville, I’m sure you felt the same sadness so many others fans from around the world and I did after hearing that ABC had cancelled the beloved show last Thursday, May 12th.

Even though the show aired for only four seasons, it has made a huge impact on fans and the city of Nashville, itself. Tourism to “Music City” has exploded ever since the show first started airing, with fans from around the world wanting to see the familiar, historic backdrops which are frequently used in the show, like The Ryman Auditorium, The Grand Ole Opry, and most prominently, The BlueBird Cafe.

The final episode of Nashville will air May 25th. There are so many storylines left to develop: Will Deacon start drinking again? Will Maddie come back home? Does Will Lexington ever find success and acceptance as an openly gay country music artist? Will Scarlett and Gunnar get back together or remain “The Exes”? What about Juliette and Avery? Layla’s career? And on and on.

1000x400-Q90_8daa2c26ba16207fba8cc66d3d86d3bbOne of the most popular actors on the show, Charles Esten, who plays the character, Deacon, said in a recent interview that they did film an alternate ending to the show in case this was to happen, so fans can have some kind of closure.

Most of the cast now lives in Nashville due to the show’s heavy shooting schedule. Esten said that he plans to stay in Nashville, despite the show’s cancellation.

Fans of Nashville, who call themselves “Nashies” have started a campaign to try to save the show. If you would like to join the movement, click HERE to sign the petition, and be sure to use the hashtag, #BringBackNashville in your social media posts.

Producers from the show are trying hard to sell the show to a new network, including New Media outlets such as Netflix, Hulu, CMT, and DirecTV.

Five minutes before the show airs this Wednesday, May 18, he is asking fans to tweet for five straight minutes with the hashtags #NashCrash and #BringBackNashville to spread the word about the campaign.

Everyone involved with the show is determined and dedicated to bringing it back. But, for now, the last two episodes of Nashville are scheduled to air on the next two Wednesdays, May 18 & 25, on ABC at 8/9 central. Do you tweet along with Nashville?     Nashville is the one show I watch religiously, its the best show on TV, the writers took it to a lesser standard with this season, but with new writers and a better story line, more happiness, less drama it should live on for a very long time. A few characters need to go… Cash and her father for sure, they have added nothing to the show. Need some happy times, drama is fine but need a balance. PLEASE help keep this show going! I can’t imagine this really being the end.

    So hoping NASHVILLE gets picked up elsewhere. Too many songs to sing and stories to tell. Been emailing and signing petitions. We NEED a Season 5 at least

    I have watched Nashville from day one. I have never missed watching as episode. Please keep NASHVILLE on the air…. This is s great show please don’t take it from use

    I love Nashville.. I was raised there and now living in Oklahoma, I love getting to see all the familiar sights around Nashville. Cancelling would be NOT in the best intrest of the network. Some of the story lines should have been written better. The WIll Lexington gay thing.. Ok so we are all familiar with Gay singers.. So, I know that The music business is full of them. Not just rock either. So, either get rid of the story line or something but it just didn’t seem to realistic about the gay thing. But Nashville had some amazing stories but the music is what matters.. still does.. Let’s keep Nashville going

    Love, Nashville! Feels like I’m with my friends every week when I sit down and watch. Really hoping someone picks it up. What will I do not knowing what my friends are up to now? 😀
